Production Manager

About Bold Coast Seafood

Bold Coast Seafood operates a 100,000 square foot facility on the working waterfront of Prospect Harbor, Maine, built around a deepwater dock, a buying station, refrigerated tanks capable of holding over 200,000 pounds of lobster and crab, a state of the art processing floor, office space, and a research lab. We supply customers with high quality seafood harvested from the cold, clean waters of Maine, and we are currently expanding into a new business line: crab processing.

We built this company on the belief that people do their best work when they feel good about where they work. We address problems directly, we expect people to bring solutions rather than just complaints, and we support each other, even on hard days. As we grow, we are looking for people who want to grow with us.

About the Role

Bold Coast Seafood is hiring a Production Manager to oversee production through grading, packing, and shipping. You will be responsible for throughput, recovery numbers, employee management, and safety, making sure daily grading, packing, and shipping goals are met safely and efficiently.

Quality has its own dedicated QA Manager, so your focus is keeping product and people moving. Until a dedicated safety manager is hired, you will also own safety for the facility, including OSHA filings, and lead our safety committee.

We are looking for a leader who empowers the crew to solve problems on their own and report back, and who brings a steady, positive presence to a demanding, fast-paced operation.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee daily production through grading, packing, and shipping, ensuring workflow and logistics match daily requirements.

  • Own throughput and recovery numbers, analyze productivity data, and manage labor and expense targets to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate employees and supervisors, with constructive and timely performance feedback.

  • Handle discipline and corrective action in line with company policy, and build a culture where front-line staff are encouraged to solve problems independently.

  • Lead safety for the facility, including OSHA filings, until a dedicated safety manager is hired, and chair the safety committee with Maintenance, QA, Dock, and Shipping and Receiving.

  • Facilitate repairs and maintenance for production tools and equipment in partnership with the Maintenance team.

  • Identify operational weaknesses and recommend improvements, including written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Work with the QA Manager to resolve quality issues and follow through on corrective actions or customer complaints.

  • Use our ERP system (NetYield) to manage incoming transactions, check and record daily grading reports, and take part in daily order fulfillment.

  • Help coordinate delivery routing and driver dispatch with Shipping.

  • Follow and enforce HACCP, DMR, NOAA, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Plan crew scheduling for busy season, including creative approaches that protect against burnout during long days.

  • Stay aligned with Operations, Sales, and Leadership, and with the company's vision, strategic objectives, and core values.

  • Be available by phone when needed, and perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • 2 to 3 years of production experience and management experience.

  • Food or fish industry experience is not required. Experience in parallel industries such as farming or general manufacturing is welcome.

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to build, coach, and hold a team accountable.

  • A safety-first mindset and willingness to take ownership of safety practices and OSHA requirements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and comfort working with productivity and recovery data.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software. ERP experience is a plus.

  • A positive, solution-oriented attitude that fits our culture of bringing ideas forward instead of just flagging problems.

  • Ability to work Monday through Saturday, with flexibility during the busy season.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working in cold, wet, and physically demanding environments.

  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate noises and smells typical of a seafood plant.

  • Manual dexterity to operate a variety of machinery and equipment as needed.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and wear required PPE for the full shift.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Paid time off.

  • Performance-based bonus program tied to defined milestones.

  • A growing company where you can see the direct impact of your work and help shape processes as we scale.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
