Tank Room Operations Manager-Crab Line
Tank Room Operations Manager-Crab Line
About Bold Coast Seafood
Bold Coast Seafood operates a 100,000 square foot facility on the working waterfront of Prospect Harbor, Maine, built around a deepwater dock, a buying station, refrigerated tanks capable of holding over 200,000 pounds of lobster and crab, a state of the art processing floor, office space, and a research lab. We supply customers with high quality seafood harvested from the cold, clean waters of Maine, and we are currently expanding into a new business line: crab processing.
We built this company on the belief that people do their best work when they feel good about where they work. We address problems directly, we expect people to bring solutions rather than just complaints, and we support each other, even on hard days. As we grow, we are looking for people who want to grow with us.
About the Role
Bold Coast Seafood is hiring a Tank Room Operations Manager for Crab to run the live holding tanks at the heart of our facility. The tank room is where product arrives from the dock and where its condition is protected until it moves on to processing or shipping, so this role sets the pace and the quality for everything downstream.
This position will work in parallel with our Tank Room Operations Manager for Lobster. During the busy season the two managers run side by side and back each other up, sharing knowledge, coverage, and a common standard for how the tank room operates.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who wants to own a critical area of a fast-growing operation, build a strong crew, and help shape how the tank room runs as crab grows into a full business line.
What You Will Do
Lead day-to-day operations of the crab side of the tank room, keeping live product healthy, organized, and moving efficiently.
Manage, schedule, train, and coach the tank room crew, and set clear expectations for performance and safety.
Monitor tank conditions, including water quality, temperature, and system performance, and respond quickly when something is off.
Track inventory, product movement, and mortality or loss in the tank room, and report the numbers clearly to leadership.
Coordinate with Receiving, Production, and Shipping so product flows smoothly from the dock to the tank room and on to its next step.
Work closely with Maintenance on tank, pump, and system upkeep, and escalate equipment issues before they become problems.
Partner with the Tank Room Operations Manager for Lobster to share coverage, back each other up during peak periods, and keep standards consistent.
Support a strong safety culture, and take part in the safety committee alongside Production, Maintenance, QA, Dock, and Shipping and Receiving.
Encourage the crew to solve problems on their own and report back, rather than waiting for top-down direction.
Help plan crew scheduling during busy season, including creative approaches that protect against burnout during long days.
What We're Looking For
Experience leading a team in a live seafood, aquaculture, fishing, or similar hands-on operation; related industries such as farming or general manufacturing will also be considered.
Management or supervisory experience, with the ability to build and lead a crew.
Familiarity with live holding systems, including tanks, pumps, filtration, and water quality, or a strong willingness to learn quickly.
A safety-first mindset and a habit of speaking up when something does not look right.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with a peer manager, Maintenance, and other departments.
A problem-solving, resourceful attitude and comfort making decisions independently, then reporting back.
A positive, solution-oriented attitude that fits our culture of bringing ideas forward instead of just flagging problems.
Ability to work Monday through Saturday, with flexibility during the busy season.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a live, wet, cold, and physically demanding seafood environment.
Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Comfortable working around tanks, pumps, machinery, and water, including during long busy-season days.
Ability to wear required PPE, including boots, gloves, and outerwear, for the full shift.
Benefits
Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
Paid time off.
Performance-based bonus program tied to defined milestones.
A growing company where you can help shape a new business line and see the direct impact of your work.
Bold Coast Seafood is an equal opportunity employer.
